Criminal Background Check Policy

Premiere International College background policy complies with the provisions of the FCRA, the various anti-discrimination laws, and any other applicable law governing the use of background screens.
Premiere International College requires All prospective students to complete a Level 1 Background Check. Prospective Students will be subject to Level 1 screening with initial application. After Level 1 Screening prospective students may be asked to submit further information before the school conducts a Level 2 background Check. Prospective students and current students who have been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor, or any criminal acts must disclose this information as a mandatory step in the application process.
Admission may be denied or rescinded based on results of the background check. In addition, selected agencies where students pursue clinical experiences, may require that students placed in their agencies pass an additional criminal background check before being allowed to practice in their facilities. Additional expenses incurred will be at the student's expense.
Level 1: A state-only name-based check.
The level 1 background check is completed by the school in order to deem if the students may have issue that may impede them from moving forward in the admissions process. This background check may save the student time and money but is NOT a guarantee that the student will pass a Level 2 Criminal background check or be admitted into the school.
Level 2:
a state and national fingerprint-based check and consideration of disqualifying offenses and applies to those students designated by law as holding positions of responsibility or trust. Section 435.04, mandates that Level 2 background security investigations be conducted on students, defined as individuals required by law to be fingerprinted pursuant to Chapter 435 Level I. In addition to Level 2 check the following checks will also be included:
  • Social Security Number Validation
  • Sex & Violent Offender Registry Check
  • OIG List
  • Social Medical Check

Confidentiality

Criminal Background Check files will be maintained consistent with Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act guidelines and stored separately from students’ permanent files. Reasonable efforts will be made to ensure that results of criminal background checks are kept as confidential as possible with a limited number of persons authorized to review results.
